We are very excited to share with everyone our recent activities and group efforts with the Habitat House as part of the 9/11 Commemoration were mentioned in a blog post by the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships !

Please view the White House blog post here —this recognition is huge, please share with your friends and family, especially with anyone involved in the build and help us celebrate.

Head over to the Habitat for Humanities page to read all about our build and check out pictures from the project.

Habitat for Humanity

NEW PICTURES! See our progress, share in the excitement, share in the pride!

The Council of Churches is proudly joining with Habitat for Humanity in building a home for a local family. Members of local churches will work together on this service project; sawing; hammering; painting and building as they bond together in
doing God’s work.

This “faith build” home will be located at 198 Clinton Street in Cortland. Jesus calls us to work together and to share our resources so that everyone has what they need to live abundently. This opportunity to assist someone is a “hand-up” that will benefit all who work together toward the goal.

We need a family to live in this house. If you are interested in this opportunity or if you know of someone who may be intererested in owning their own home please call 607.898.4148 or visit www.tchabitat.com for more information.
You can qualify as a Habitat for Humanity partner family if you…
• Have a need for adequate shelter: If your current housing is over-crowded, run down, un-affordable or otherwise inadequate.
• Have the ability to pay for a home: Habitat offer very low interest mortgages to families wo may have difficulty qualifying for a traditional mortgage with a bank.
• Are willing to partner with us: Habitat families must truly want to be homeowners and contribute “sweat equity” (hands on involvement) on Habitat homes.
• Currently live in Tompkins or Cortland County and have lived in either county for at least one year.
